Giving My Inner Thumper a High Five

I'm not the biggest fan of spring. In the Southwest, springtime can be both wonderful and annoying. Most of the time, it's annoying, especially when it gets windy.

In general, spring does look pretty, but behind the pretty lies really bad allergies, bugs, wasps, and unpredictable weather.

Although I was born and raised in a tropical country, I am cold-blooded to the core. Autumn is my favorite season because it's chilly, and in these areas, it can also get rainy. There's nothing like the smell of rain and going outside and basking in it. Winter can get really harsh where I live, but I love the snow, too.

Spring, on the other hand, is another story. Summer is even worse. But last week, after my morning routine of walking my dog and getting my much needed sunlight and exercise, I found myself in my backyard, taking pictures like a tourist.

Either my phone's camera is really awesome, or the beauty that surrounds me during this year's spring is just undeniable. These pictures are unedited!

And in the midst of green leaves and bright yellow dandelions, even the creepy crawlies and sneeze inducing pollen, I couldn't help but allow the magic around me prove me wrong: spring is here, and it's beautiful!

And as I give my inner Thumper a high five, I also embrace everything that this season symbolizes: new beginnings, freshness, color, sunlight, and warmth.

Welcome to the Inner Self High Five Project!

Last night, I found myself watching My Best Friend's Wedding and enjoying an Oreo cupcake at two in the morning.

During this scene, I realized that first, I was having the time of my life at such an ungodly hour, watching what I now think is one of the cheesiest movies of all time, and breaking the cardinal rule of a healthy diet -- not eating anything after 7pm, and most definitely not a cupcake! But then I also remembered how much I loved every minute of this movie when I first saw it in 1997, and how I know I can't live without cupcakes, healthy lifestyle or not.

And at that moment, I totally felt myself giving my inner 13-year old a high five!

I was inspired last night to start a new blog project that would help my readers (and in the process, myself), regularly tap into the many magical facets of our inner selves, whether it's your inner toddler or your inner Golden Girl. It's a great way to get to know yourself more, love yourself more, and find your secret happy places. Whether it's from a memory, a hobby, or the kind of human being you've always wanted to be (pirate? yogi? President of the United States?), giving your inner self a high five definitely feeds your soul.

So what can readers expect from this blog?

Aside from traditional blog posts and images, I also plan to incorporate an interactive, multimedia approach to make this project suitable to all eyes and ears.

If you're into videos, then I will make videos for you.

If you're into paintings and sculptures, I'm into that, too.

If you're into food, I'd be more than happy to share recipes and show you how to do it in your own kitchen.

If you're into movies, books, music, or tangible objects you can enjoy with your senses, I will be doing reviews and giveaways.

Of course, everything goes with the theme of this project. All images, videos, recipes, and reviews will cater to your inner awesome self.

Guests galore!

I am really excited because I want to make this blog a community where people can actually collaborate. If you wish to submit an inner self story, go for it! My contact information is on the sidebar and information pages on top of this page. I will give more details on how to prepare submissions or give suggestions.

Well then, I guess that's about it for the intro! Don't hesitate to leave a comment if you have any questions, or just want to chat! Cheers!
